KEES'S BACKYARD


'I met Kees during one of my hikes, and that encounter changed me. Not only as a person, but also as an observer and participant of our Dutch nature. A world I thought I knew, but which has so much more to offer.

When he was six years old, Kees's life changed dramatically when his parents moved form the busy western part of the Netherlands to the beautiful Veluwe. For the love of nature Kees has managed to capture many of his special moments in nature on film. Purely for personal use and never with the intention of making a film out of it. During his walks in nature he met film director Marcel Everts. They became friends and Marcel suggested making a film from all his footage.

Marcel Everts productions has taken up the challenge and has managed to put together a beautiful nature film with all this 'found footage'.

Together with Kees, we experience all the seasons in and around the beautiful Veluwe. From the largest wildlife to the smallest, and from the youngest to the returned wildlife. We look over his shoulder at the hidden beauty of the inner garden of The Netherlands, Kees's Backyard.

After discovering a treasure trove of previously undiscovered film footage, Marcel Everts produced his first full-length nature film, 'KEES'S BACKYARD.' He teaches us the beauty of our Dutch nature and brings it to the viewer in a unique and intimate way.
